Free Software to Help You Learn the Market Trends and Metrics— Quartr
There are many customers, providers and commercial events happening in the market. If you are not in the industry, it’s hard to know the market trends, you only can find some expensive industrial reports.
A few months ago, I found the service called Quartr accidentally, which can make me understand the newest updates and metrics of an industry.
Quartr was founded in 2020 at Sweden, which gave millions of investors, corporate professionals, and journalists easy access to first-party financial and business information from 9,000+ public companies including USA, Europe and Asia companies. I think it’s a good fit for who needs to realize key metrics in the industry. Let me share the advantages and features in the following.
Quartr Mobile App is Free and Great
Quartr’s product strategy for mobile and desktop is different. If you are a new user, I recommend you download the iOS or Android App firstly, they are totally free.
Easily to know the key metrics of companies
After you install and onboard the Quartr mobile app, Quartr will recommend you some famous companies, you can follow the companies you are interested in.
For example, Spotify is the company I am interested in. I can get the information about Spotify’s revenue, EBITDA and the numbers of premium subscription and advertisement.
Quartr mobile app also provides the information about related companies like the right picture as below. If you are making some research or competitive analysis, it’s really helpful.
Quartr’s Transcripts and Slides
Quartr provides the company’s earnings calls, the CEO and CFO will explain their seasonal highlights and financial stats.
Each earnings call has its transcript, you even can jump to the paragraph you’re interested in, don’t worry you can’t hear every sentence clearly. You can search for the keywords in the transcript like revenue and advertising to understand the key points quickly. They also provide the function of “Highlights” to save important sentences.
Each earnings call basically has its own slide. You can listen the calls with the slide, taking the Spotify for example, you can know the product release of this season, like this year is the 9th annual wrapped campaign.
Explore and Keyword Alert
If you want to understand what companies relative to a specific technique or industry, I recommend you enter the keyword in the Explore page. For example, recently my company wants to make the research of WiFi and IoT devicess, you can type the “WiFi” in the search bar.
If you are crazy about a certain keyword, you can use the function of “Keyword Alerts”, setting up the keywords you really care. You’ll get notified when the keywords are mentioned in a transcript. If you just want to know the information from the companies you followed, please select the “Followed Companies” option of “Matches From” item. Or you will receive a lot of notifications and feel annoyed.
You can taking those materials as a podcast, they are also great resources can improve your English listening comprehension.
Subscription Plan — Quartr Web App
If you want to use Quartr on desktop, Quartr Core plan is recommended for personal use and Quartr Pro plan is recommended for business use. They are suitable for making research or taking notes with your Chrome and Safari browsers. Like Quartr’s vision statement:

Comfortable User Experience
Quartr’s web app takes the advantage of multi-task and wide screen on desktop, which lets users read the slides and listen earnings call at the same time.
One more feature only available on desktop version. You are not allowed to download the slides on Quartr’s mobile app, but you are able to download the slides on Quartr’s web app. It’s fantastic for those people who love to own the documents.
The width of web app’s window is flexible. If you want to compare many companies’ information at once, you can open many pages at one time. For example, one page is for Spotify, the other one is for Netflix. It’s convenient.
Powerful Function of Saved Items
The function “saved items on web app is really thoughtful. Generally the function of saved items is applied for an object, like a transcript or a slide. But Quartr knows the users only want to capture the key points, you can save each paragraph of transcripts like below screenshot:
Subject to slides, you can only save one page of a slide. For example, I only need the page 8 of this slide, after pressing the save button, this page will add to my saved items.
The “Saved” icon is in the left side bar which shows all of items you already saved like below screenshot. If you want to categorize the saved items, you can use the “Add folder” to create folders. Please beware of the “Saved” function only for web app, those saved items can not read on the Quartr mobile app.
Writing the Notes Conveniently, Exporting as PDF File
Last but not least, I want to introduce the built-in function let you take notes easily called “Workspaces”. You can reorganize and summarize the financial reports ,slides and transcripts with your own texts, images and ideas, then exporting as your analysis and report.

If you just want to listen earnings calls on Mac, you can install the free mobile app from the Mac App Store. Students can request free access to their professional desktop tier Quartr Pro using the student email.
If you have any problems, you can contact them easily. I am impressed on how fast they reply. I have met a problem of login in web app with my LinkedIn account. I get the reply almost in two hours, I found that Co-founder & COO replied me in person. It’s so impressive.
